THREAD-I Love Trains!
Seriously, I freaking love Amtrak!
I have seen a couple threads on here with people bad-mouthing Amtrak and I tell you what, it kind of ticked me off.
The following is my collection of photos I have taken while riding Amtrak trains.

THREAD-I Love Trains!
I guess you could say I’m kind of a train enthusiast.
Not to toot my own horn, pun intended, but I have ridden almost every stretch of rail Amtrak travels.
My favorite Amtrak ride by far is from Salt Lake City, Utah to Denver, Colorado

Salt Lake City to Denver runs once a day. It leaves SLC at 4am, and it arrives in Denver around 8pm.
You get to see sunrise on one side of the Rocky Mountains and sunset on the other.

The tracks run next to the Green River through Utah and Colorado for several hundred miles.
They call this area Moon River. No seriously. Moon River.
When you get to this area, during summer, the engineer comes on the intercom and warns everyone that we are approaching Moon River.
If you look out the window, you will get mooned!

Winter or Summer?
Which is better?
Watching it snow with a hot coffee while making new friends in the observation car can be quite lovely.
These two photos are of the same spot. One is from a summer trip and the other from winter.

Union Station, Denver Amtrak Platform
I will always have a special place in my heart for this platform. I kissed on old girlfriend for the first time on this platform.
Oh yeah, and the bar inside the train station is probably my favorite bar in Denver. So many types of beer!

THREAD-I Love Trains!
First off, let me fill you in on something. I was a huge fan of the TV show Dexter back then.
I met this guy somewhere in Kansas if I remember correctly. He was stitching a square on this blanket. I talked to him for a couple of hours as he told me the different people that were associated with each square. Then he said the one he was working on was “my square.”
Nice guy. Great to talk to.
Probably 20-25% of being a serial killer.

This is Kansas. Yes, a lot of America looks like this.
It found it so beautiful!
Speaking of Kansas, Pompeo 2024!

I saved my favorite for last
Back when trains were the main form of travel, there was a company called Fred Harvey Houses. It was a chain of restaurants and hotels connected train stations.
I took this photo outside the last Harvey House in Barstow, California. I won a top photography award in the University of Utah’s annual art magazine for this one when I was a student there.
I hoped you enjoyed this train ride.
